Short description
Blockstream BTC Explorer is a public Bitcoin blockchain explorer for inspecting transactions, blocks, addresses and mempool data.
Key features
- View Bitcoin transaction details including amounts, fees and confirmations.
- Inspect address history, balances and incoming/outgoing transfers.
- Browse blocks and unconfirmed mempool transactions.
- No account required; the explorer is open source.
Overview
Bitcoin has a public and append-only ledger. Blockstream BTC Explorer provides a convenient interface for viewing data that is already recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.
What you can inspect
The explorer can show transaction inputs and outputs, transferred amounts, fees, confirmation status and block information. It also lets users inspect address history, balances, blocks and unconfirmed transactions.
Why people use it
The service is open source and can be accessed without an account. An onion endpoint is also available for users who prefer to reach the explorer through Tor.
Bitcoin transparency
Blockchain explorers make Bitcoin’s public accounting model easy to inspect. That transparency is useful for verification and research, but it also means Bitcoin is not fully anonymous. Once an address is linked to a real identity, related public transaction history may become easier to analyze.
Important
Viewing public blockchain data is generally lawful. How that information is used is a separate matter and remains subject to applicable law.
