Short description
Wasabi Wallet is an open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin wallet built with a strong focus on transaction privacy.
Key features
- Wallet network traffic is routed through Tor by default.
- CoinJoin features designed to improve Bitcoin transaction privacy.
- Non-custodial model with user-controlled private keys.
- Open-source software.
Overview
Wasabi Wallet is an open-source Bitcoin wallet available for desktop platforms. It is aimed at users who want stronger transaction privacy than a basic Bitcoin wallet normally provides.
The wallet is known for privacy features around CoinJoin and for routing network traffic through Tor. Bitcoin is pseudonymous rather than inherently anonymous, so privacy tools focus on reducing the amount of transaction history that can be trivially linked together.
Wasabi is non-custodial, which means users remain responsible for their own keys and backups. Its privacy model can also be more complex than a typical beginner wallet.
Important
Privacy tools do not provide legal immunity. Using transaction-mixing features to conceal proceeds of unlawful activity may create serious legal risk depending on the jurisdiction.
